International Guests Compete at PT Basketball Tournament

This past week, the school was abuzz with excitement as it hosted a  basketball tournament featuring numerous schools, including Australia. The inclusion of an international team from Australia made the tournament even more special. For many students, it was a chance to connect with a different culture. The event was a fantastic opportunity for players, coaches, teachers, and students alike to engage in the spirit of competition and witness the hard work of the athletes. As anticipation builds for the upcoming district opener against Gilmer on December 20th, the sense of community and pride among students and faculty is growing.

In addition to the talent showcased during the tournament, a united sense of camaraderie developed. Teachers were granted permission to bring their children to watch the games during Thursday and Friday classes. enhancing the familial atmosphere surrounding the event. 

As the Pine Tree community rallies behind its teams, the anticipation for the district opener is growing. Students are encouraged to come out and support their peers, with plans for face painting and school spirit activities to energize the crowd. This is more than just a game; it’s an opportunity for students to unite, celebrate their school pride, and showcase the burgeoning talent of their athletes.

Upcoming games include this Friday, December 20th in Gilmer. The junior varsity team takes the court at 4:30 PM, followed by the freshman team at 5:45 PM, and varsity jumps ball at 7 PM. Coach Stafford expressed his excitement about the upcoming matchup against Gilmer, stating, “I’m pretty excited. The boys have worked so hard.”

With strong leadership from team captains Kaden Davis and Landon Fenton, the focus on teamwork, bonding, and sportsmanship has elevated the entire program. 

Overall, the basketball tournament has not only provided thrilling competition but has also fostered a sense of unity and pride among students, teachers, and community members. With an ambitious schedule ahead, the teams prepare for what promises to be an exhilarating season. The community stands ready to support the players as they embark on this exciting chapter in their athletic journey. Join us this Friday as we cheer on our teams!
